Today I would like to write and think more about me-time and why it is so important. Now I know everyone is in school, working, going after hobbies and spending a lot of time with friends, family etc. There is nothing wrong with this, but I guess after a while everyone needs a break and a relaxed time by yourself.
Why is this so important?
We are constantly on our phones or laptops nowadays and online 24/7, which causes stress. We are afraid to miss out on something in the world. This is why we keep checking our phones up to 88 times a day. But this is exactly why we need to hit the pause button and learn to enjoy a little time without our mobile phones. Being stressed in the long run is seriously damaging our health, especially today where we need to give 100 % to our Jobs and success. This is exactly why we would need some time by ourselves to recharge.
How can I make time for myself?
One thing you can do to create me-time is simply by waking up earlier. I love to wake up a little earlier to drink my morning coffee in peace and just relax before the day starts. Waking up earlier has a lot of benefits. First of all, your phone would not ring all the time, because the rest of the world might still be asleep. This is the best way to charge your batteries and get enough of Energy for a long day.
Now another scenario would be: You spent the whole week at work, school etc. After that, you meet your friends, family…going out and meeting people is fun and I would never say that this is a bad thing, but after a while, you feel tired and you come to the conclusion that you need a little time for yourself.
What can you do in your me-time?
Take a whole day off on the weekend and create a special me-time day just for yourself. Do whatever makes you happy, you could go shopping by yourself or just stay at home with your favorite book and tea and enjoy the quietness of your own. Of course, the definition of me-time is different for everyone. If you would rather go out for a walk with your dog, or go to the gym, it is up to you. Watch your favorite Netflix show, eat your favorite food or just relax with a face mask on watching a movie. There are no rules for me-time. Enjoy the time by yourself, leave your phone in another room or put it on airplane mode. Whatever makes you happy to disconnect and feel comfortable on your own is the perfect me-time for you.
